Educational purpose

Our articles are written to explain opioid dependence, withdrawal, treatment concepts, and safety information in clear, stigma-free language. They do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or individualized treatment plans.

Sources and review

We use publicly available guidance and research from government health agencies, professional medical organizations, and other primary sources when available. Medical education pages identify a reviewer and a last-reviewed date. Clare Waismann, M-RAS, SUDCC II, reviews content within her scope as a Registered Addiction Specialist and Substance Use Disorder Certified Counselor II.

Updates and corrections

We review time-sensitive material as information changes. If you believe a page contains an error or needs clarification, email info@opiates.org with the page URL and supporting source. Corrections are evaluated and, when warranted, the page is updated with a current review date.

Independence and transparency

Opiates.org is an educational publisher. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or operate a treatment program. For confidential treatment referral and information, contact the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357.
